My theory is that Boruto will end up becoming like Sasuke. A rogue ninja. He becomes a bad guy for a reason. But in the end, someone knocks sense into him and he ends up becoming a good guy.
There are two reasons why I say that. First, he stated in the Boruto movie, he “wants to become like Sasuke.” This is a metaclue to the fate of his character. Secondly, he puts on a forehead protector, which we saw, had a long, horizontal scratch carved across the leaf symbol. Why was it so? The slashed forehead protector is a bad omen in the sense it's associated with criminals, which is the “wrong nindo” and this suggests Boruto might be en route becoming a rogue shinobi.
I don't want to discuss where Kawaki sent Nanadaime Hokage. And no matter what, he was nowhere near Madara's level of badassery.
Boruto seemed to be in good form fighting Nawaki. With that black cloak and pink stripe sweatshirt, hmm, not bad.
He and Shikadai made a parallel to Naruto and Shikamaru. But they looked overqualified for their age. By that, I mean, Naruto and Co. weren't even nearly as agile and good with jumping off towers, buildings, rains and cliffs, completely dogding any poles or pipes that came their way, when they were Boruto and Co.’s age. I deem these advanced characteristic as extra.
That kid with daddy issues and upturned pony tail on his head, having hair and eye of exactly the same shade of dirty-greenish-brown seemed fishy to me. Plus, the writers made it appear obvious to the viewers. By the way, I took him for a girl at first.
I liked all those badassery they pulled off with the two trains, but again, it seemed a bit too extra for kids of their age. Advanced technology doesn't guarantee advanced bone structure and body flexibility, or whatever the heck is the term given for running around swiftly, dodging every pillar, poles, building and moving objects that comes in way. Jumping tree to tree is one thing. Hanging off cliffs like that is complete next level.
And do you remember this scene, or is it that am reading too much through the texts?
Denki: Sorry, we have got somewhere to go.Boruto: That's right. Staying on the tracks isn't for us.
Again, what did this conversation mean. Is this a metaclue foreshadowing Boruto’s fate or just a petty dialogue of the events that follows? Staying on tracks could mean carving out his own track, which is not the regular fashion how things are practiced. (Read the first paragraph.)
I liked the way he made his way into the Academy. Now that's what you call a dynamic entry and some next level stupid attention grabbing technique, well expected of Naruto’s son.
I liked the bantering between Konohamaru and him.
On second thoughts, I have lost count of how many times the Hokage mountain has been disintegrated and consecutively reconstructed.
Bottom line is, I liked the episode. But I love Naruto more.
